Welcome to the next event from the Health Talks series – health, life sciences and entrepreneurship talks organised by Aalto University, Business Turku, Centria Health Hub, Health Design, HealthHub Finland EDIH, Healthtech Finland, HiLIFE, Kuopio Health, OuluHealth, Tampere Health, Terkko Health Hub.
What:
Women’s health encompasses the physical, mental, and social well-being of women, addressing unique health issues such as reproductive health, menstrual cycles, pregnancy, childbirth, menopause, and conditions like osteoporosis, breast and cervical cancers. It also involves preventive care, access to healthcare services, and addressing health disparities influenced by socio-economic, cultural, and biological factors. Promoting women’s health includes education, early detection, and treatment of diseases, and ensuring comprehensive care throughout a woman’s life stages. This Health Talks introduces Women’s Health Hub initiative in Turku which aims to highlight the unmet needs in women’s health, foster collaboration among current stakeholders in the field and encourage new participants to join the conversation.

Aino Försti-Smith, Bayer
Head of Communications, Bayer (Finland)
Aino Försti-Smith is a Communications and Public Affairs professional with over 20 years of experience in healthcare and pharmaceutical industry. Aino is a passionate advocate for women’s health and gender equality with extensive knowledge, experience and networks in this area. She is a board member of UN Women and a Senior Advisor for Women in Global Health in Finland.
Bayer is a recognized leader in women’s healthcare, with a long-standing commitment to delivering science for a better life by advancing a portfolio of innovative treatments and solutions. For over 50 years, Bayer has been supporting education programs and rights-based family planning in more than 130 countries. Bayer’s production site in Turku is one of the most important pharmaceutical production sites within Bayer Group globally. Turku is also the center of expertise and innovation hub in polymer-based drug delivery systems and long-acting reversible contraceptive products.
Pasi Koskimies, Organon R&D Finland
Pasi Koskimies, a biologist and PhD by training, is an Executive Director of Research Science and Site Lead of Organon R&D Finland Ltd. Organon R&D Finland is part of Organon’s Translational Medicine and Early Development organization that has a focus on developing new treatments for women’s health. Prior to joining Organon, Pasi was one of the founders at Forendo Pharma Ltd., company pioneering in the translation of intracrinology science into first-in-class therapeutic solutions. One of those assets is now in the clinical phase 2 to study efficacy and safety in endometriosis patients by Organon.
Lotta Siutla, Revvity
