Valmet Automotive will recruit 1000 in Finland this year

  • Car plant in Uusikaupunki has around 4000 employees
  • The new Mercedes A-Class needs hundreds of new workers
  • Recruiting campaign will start later this year

Valmet Automotive continues to grow strongly and expects to recruit 1000 people in South West Finland this year in blue and white collar positions. The production start of the new Mercedes-Benz A-Class at the Uusikaupunki plant this year has a clear impact on the recruitment need. The need for additional white collars runs in dozens.

The main personnel need will be during the early part of the year. Initially, the recruitments will be focused on production supervisors and other white collars. The additional need for carbuilders for the new A-Class is estimated at several hundreds. The related campaign will be announced and launched later.

Getting ready for the production of the new Mercedes-Benz A-Class

Valmet Automotive recruited about 150 white collars last year, their number now totaling at around 500. For the needs of fluent production, increasing volumes and expanding service range Valmet Automotive will be immediately recruiting dozens of white collars for positions in production, support functions and engineering services.

The number of personnel at Valmet Automotive’s Uusikaupunki car plant, the biggest factory in Finland, is now around 4000. Additional personnel for the needs of the new A-Class production will be required in the body, paint and assembly shops as well as in the internal logistics. Valmet Automotive will train all personnel.

– Valmet Automotive will continue as the leading industrial employer in Finland also in 2018. We are once again facing a major, but positive challenge, and we will find the needed solutions together with our partners, says Mr. Tomi Salo, HR Director, Valmet Automotive.
