CEBR wants to exploit synergies between European life science ecosystems

  • CEBR has published a position paper to address the major challenges of European Life Science ecosystems
  • The aim of all members is to support sustainable growth for SMEs, creating a competitive Europe in the global economy
  • Turku Science Park Ltd and HealthTurku cluster is an active member of CEBR

The Council of European BioRegions (CEBR) has published a position paper (here) to better integrate European life science ecosystems into a stronger European Research and Innovation framework. With this Position Paper, CEBR wants to address the major challenges faced by the managers of European life science ecosystems, for example lack of European funding instruments to support pre-seed and seed R&D projects, and that there is a real need for a sector-specific operational network of European life science ecosystems.  CEBR also suggests CEBR concrete measures to the European Commission on how it can help life science ecosystem managers in supporting SMEs.

The document represents CEBR’s current views on the role and situation of European life science ecosystems, including clusters, industry associations, incubators and industry parks, and how they could be better integrated into a stronger European Research and Innovation framework.

Turku Science Park Ltd is an active member of CEBR and supports the Position Paper of CEBR.

”The environment for life science SMEs and their innovation activities can be enhanced substantially”, says Tero Piispanen, Senior executive in the HealthTurku cluster and member of CEBR board.
