Air Leap starts a direct route between Stockholm Arlanda and Turku

From 24 January, Air Leap will start a direct route between Stockholm Arlanda and Turku. Air Leap will operate the route with two daily round trips, lunch and evening, Monday to Friday and one direct flight from Turku to Stockholm on Saturday with return on Sunday.

Air Leap has previously announced that it will increase the number of departures to Mariehamn and Turku to two daily round trips. This means that a total of four departures are offered from Turku to Stockholm, two direct and two with a stopover in Mariehamn.

– Turku has historically been an important destination to and from Stockholm. Stockholm and Turku have been without direct flights since the outbreak of the pandemic. We are therefore pleased to be able to make this investment. Together with the route via Mariehamn, many departures will now be offered that can be adapted to connecting flights in Stockholm, says Johan Giæver Marvik, Commercial Director Air Leap.

– We are happy that we now can offer Turku a direct line with several daily departures to Stockholm. The Turku area has historically had strong ties to Sweden with e.g. a large Swedish-speaking population and with our planned collaboration with SAS, we now provide the opportunity to connect via Arlanda to the entire domestic and international network, says Jon Melkersson, CEO of Air Leap.

The CEO of Turku region development company Turku Science Park Ltd. Tom Palenius welcomes the return of the direct Turku-Stockholm connection.

– Well-functioning international flights are important to business and tourism in our region. Stockholm itself is an important destination for the Turku region and companies in the region, but the connections provided by Arlanda are also valuable. The pandemic continues, but hopefully the gradual opening of air routes will help strengthen the conditions for the growth and competitiveness of our region.
