Meyer Turku Shipyard delivered the Carnival Celebration to the customer on Wednesday 2.11. successfully and on schedule. Carnival Cruise Line received the vessel at a signing ceremony in Turku, Finland.
Carnival Celebration embarked on her maiden voyage late last week. The ship is firmly anchored in the latest technologies: for example, it uses LNG, the most environmentally friendly fuel available today.
“Carnival Celebration is one of the most technologically advanced and environmentally friendly ships,” says Tim Meyer, CEO of Meyer Turku, in a press release from Carnival Cruise Line.
Meyer described the delivery of the latest ship as exceptional in many ways.
“First of all, this is Carnival Cruise Line’s 50th anniversary ship. Secondly, Carnival Celebration will start sailing immediately after delivery, confirming that demand for cruises and therefore cruise ships is recovering. I am very proud to say that the staff and partners at Meyer Turku Shipyard have once again succeeded in completing such a complex project in such a limited time,” Meyer said in a press release.
Carnival Celebration is the sister ship of Mardi Gras, which was delivered from the yard in 2020. One of the special features of both ships is the BOLT® roller coaster built on board.
