Teams from Turku victorious in Finnish Game Awards 2018

  • Two game projects/companies were awarded in Finnish Game Awards Gala
  • Awarded teams were Turku Game Lab, Humak and Rival Games
  • The number of employees in the industry grew to 3,200 in the end of 2018

Finland’s successful game industry celebrated and rewarded their best in the Finnish Game Awards 25.4. in Helsinki. A total of eight awards were presented in the gala. Two of the totally eight award winners come from Turku region.

The Applied Game Award 2018 was selected by the Serious Gaming Cluster Finland Association. Lights On! / Turku Game Lab & Humak were awarded in this category. Finnish-Estonian joint project has highlighted culturally significant historic tourist sites with the help of new technology. The Best Creative Achievement of the Year 2018 was chosen by the board of the Finnish Game Developers’ Association. The winner was The Thief of Thieves by the Turku-based Rival Games. Game industry grows

In 2017 and 2018 the industry also went through structural development, and the “prosperous middle class” of gaming companies grew significantly. The number of companies that employ more than 50 people and have a turnover of more than 10 million continued to increase. The number of employees in the industry grew to 3,200 in the end of 2018. In international comparison, Finland was placed within the top-three game developer countries in Europe by turnover.

The Finnish Game Awards was organized by the Finnish Game Developers’ Association and the Neogames Finland Association.
