Deltamarin has been selected as the designer for the new archipelago connection vessel. The vessel will be built by HL-Metal in Parainen. The vessel will start operating on 1 May 2023 and will serve the islands north of Nauvo in the Turku archipelago.
Deltamarin carried out the conceptual design of the vessel for Finferries during the tender process, and further work on the project will include the complete basic design and most of the detailed design.
“We are very pleased to continue our long-standing relationship with Finferries and look forward to working with HL-Metall on this project. This contract is particularly important for us as it demonstrates our capabilities in the smaller ferry and workboats segment,” says Esa Jokioinen, Sales Director at Deltamarin.
HL-Metal, which is building the vessel, is a family-owned company with offices and production facilities in Parainen.
“We are proud that as a local company we have been given the opportunity to build this connection vessel, which will serve the archipelago and its inhabitants. We see this as a strong confirmation that we have succeeded in developing our business and expertise to become a valued partner in the service and newbuilding market for smaller ferries and workboats”, says Markus Flinckman, Managing Director of HL-Metal.
The new vessel will be 30.8 metres long and 7.8 metres wide, with a carrying capacity of 25 tonnes and a maximum passenger capacity of 99.
